ADOPTING IS TRULY SAVING A LIFE! features some of the dogs and cats available for adoption at the Walton County Animal Control Shelter in Monroe, Georgia. We are a government-run animal control facility. Because we are an open-intake "pound" for strays and owner surrenders, we are unfortunately not a "no-kill" shelter. But with your help, our goal is to be as "low-kill" as possible! When you adopt or rescue from our facility, you truly are saving a dog or cat from being put to sleep.
ALL ADOPTIONS ARE ONLY $40!  Adoptions include:
  • a really great life-long companion
  • first vaccination (dogs DA2PPv; cats FVRCP)
  • deworming for roundworms and hookworms
  • a voucher for $15 towards a rabies vaccination at participating veterinarians
  • Discounted spay/neuter
  • Ask for a coupon toward ($2 or $5 off) dog/cat food from Boss Brothers Country Store.
  • Heartworm/combo testing, if not already done, may be done upon request if tests are available

We love... (let me rephrase that) we NEED help from rescue groups! Our shelter is fairly rural and we do not get the walk-in adopters like other shelters in larger cities. Therefore, we have a very simple, no fee, show-up-and-sign policy for rescue groups licensed by the Georgia Department of Agriculture. For more information on becoming a rescue partner, see our Rescue Info page.
